The attached illustration shows fishermen fishing in the wild Fuji River at the foot of the village of Kajikazawa. In the distance, there is a view of Mount Fuji. It was produced as one of the series "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji" which was published from approx. 1830 to 1832 in the late Edo period. The picture is considered one of the masterpieces of the series.

The illustrations were made by Hokusai Katsushik (1760-1849). He is one of the greatest and most prolific Japanese painters and creators of colorful ukiyo-e woodcuts. He became famous as an extremely prolific artist, great draftsman, landscape painter, and illustrator. In his paintings he recreated the then Japan. He painted, among others flowers, turtles, pheasants, roosters, bridges and cascades.
