The Ferrari F40 poster is a reproduction of the Ferrari F40 car patent by Leonardo Fioravanti. Patent No. USD306274S was published in 1990 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Ferrari F40
In the early 1980s, Ferrari was looking for a model that could compete with the famous Porsche 959. Ferrari CEO Giovanni Razelli had a car that would outperform its rival. "The fastest sports car on the road has to be a Ferrari," he said. The Ferrari F40 was named for the 40th anniversary of Ferrari as a car manufacturer and was the last to be unveiled by 89-year-old Enzo Ferrari in June 1987. The F40 Ferrari is based on the experimental 288 GTO Evoluzione, the racing version of the GTO. It was built in the classic Ferrari style, akin to a Formula 1 racing car. Its interior was painfully simple and contained only the necessary buttons and instruments. It was supposed to be economical, light and functional - without air conditioning, radio, leather trim, carpets or a real trunk. The weight of the F40 is only 1155 kg including the carbon fiber composite door weighing only 1.5 kg! It accelerated to 100 km / h in about 4.5 seconds. From zero to 200 km / h in 11.6 seconds. The 2.9-liter engine generated 478 HP at 7,000 rpm. and 577 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Officially, it was the first car for driving on public roads, available for sale at the dealership, which could reach a speed of 200 miles per hour, or 322 km / h. It had rear-wheel drive and a manual 5-speed gearbox. During the 5-year production, from 1987 to 1992, 1,310 units left the factory gates.

Racing versions of the F40
The first racing car based on the F40 was developed by Michelotto, a Ferrari-partner company. The F40 LM model replaced the main front retractable lights with fixed lights with a plastic cover and plastic tilting windows, which significantly reduced the weight of the vehicle. The F120 A engines were upgraded to the F120 B model, which produced 720 hp and allowed a top speed of 367 km / h. 19 copies of the F40 LM were built, but only 3 cars took part in the races. In 1994, the first F40 GTE, built for the BPR GT series, was presented. A sequential gearbox from the Ferrari 333 SP was used, the brakes were improved and the entire structure of the car was strengthened. There were 3 versions of the engine with a capacity of 3.0 to 3.5 liters. The engine developed 660 hp at 8,500 rpm in compliance with the BPR GT regulations and 900 hp without the limitations of the series regulations. Top speed was estimated at 360 km / h, just under 40 km / h more than 324 km / h on the street version of the F40. The F40 is, next to the Porsche 959 and Lamborghini Diablo, one of the most iconic supercars of the turn of the 80's and 90's and has gone down in automotive history.
