Earth Day poster from the "Environmental Posters" series. The Earth Day poster in this series depicts the consequences of human action on all four elements - fire, water, earth and air. The series aims to promote the idea of caring for the environment and active environmental education by raising awareness of sustainable consumption, conscious shopping, shaping attitudes related to caring for the environment and developing sensitivity to topics related to ecology in the broadest sense.
The Earth Day poster is an addition to the entire series and pays tribute to our planet Earth. The Earth Day poster shows endangered species like the polar bear, bluefin tuna, walrus and giant panda.
Earth Day, also known as World Earth Day or International Earth Day, is a series of activities held every spring to promote environmentally friendly attitudes in society. The idea of celebrating Earth Day was first proposed by John McConnell at the 1969 UNESCO conference on the environment. In 2009 the UN General Assembly proclaimed April 22 as Earth Day. The purpose of this holiday is to publicize environmental protection issues. In Poland Earth Day is celebrated in many schools, kindergartens and cultural and educational units. Students discuss how to protect the environment and prevent its pollution. In kindergartens children express their concern for the planet in their own drawings, in schools students create objects or clothes from recycled items.
