The illustrations were made by the British botanist and physicist Robert John Thornton, who lived in the years 1768–1837, and disseminated by the Biodiversity Heritage Library. The attached graphic shows the Blue passionflower (Passiflora Cerulea) from 1807, a species of climber belonging to the passion fruit family. It comes from the forests of Brazil and Argentina.
